How this plan works
- Forty days. Lent runs 46 days from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday. Leave out its six Sundays and 40 remain, so the plan reads on Monday to Saturday.
- All four Gospels. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, 89 chapters, about two chapters or 94 verses a day. John's last chapters, the cross and the empty tomb, fall in Holy Week.
- Your ticks stay here. Ticks are kept in this browser. The copied link holds your choices, so it opens the same plan on another device; the ticks don't travel with it.
Questions
When is Lent 2027?
Ash Wednesday is February 10, 2027, and Easter Sunday is March 28, 2027. Lent ends on Holy Saturday, March 27.
Why are Sundays left out?
The 40 days of Lent are counted without its Sundays. To read on Sundays too, tick Sunday under Reading days; the plan becomes 46 shorter readings.
Is there a shorter Lent plan?
Change the order to the Gospel of John: 21 chapters over 40 days, about 22 verses a day. Or pick the Gospel of Luke, 24 chapters.
Can I use it in another year?
Yes. Set the start to that year's Ash Wednesday and the end to the day before Easter.
